PROJECTION ON BOOKS
Project I, Phase II
Special Thanks to Professor Joshuah Jest for the use of his projector, and guidance with this project!
- Mounting the Projector
I chose overhead placement of the projector in order to allow the viewer a closer look at the installation without interference with the visual content. I used a steel rack case shelf as the base for the mount. To make it work, I drilled 3 holes for the M4 screws that attach to the bottom of the projector. 2 more holes were drilled towards the outer edge to accommodate a drum clamp for mounting to the installation frame.
- The Layout
- Testing the Projector
PROBLEM 1:
The projection area is only large enough to cover one book... The projector will have to be higher...
- ADAPT & OVERCOME!
PROBLEM 2:
The projector is sideways... The projector will have to be repositioned... The stand is also not very stable.
- Building the Frame
PROBLEM 3:
Plasma TVs don't work well on an angle... The foldable table was a better idea...
- Installation Frame 3.0
- Putting it all together
- Getting the sound working... I didn't have the necessary cables for my project, so I used spare parts and made my own... This is where my audio background and soldering skills came in handy.
The project came out well, but it still feels unfinished... There's actually a lot more to say about this project, but I'm going to save that for PHASE III

The frame is bulking, but not very stable... The projector mount is looking good though!
