STATEMENT:

Tuesday, 24 March 2020:

I’m a prisoner in my own home. The mass media has led me to believe that Corona is knocking at my door. My imagination starts to get the best of me as I contemplate the possibilities of future chaos, human struggle, and total breakdown of modern society.
There is no way out, so I look inward… I see the faces of my wife and children. Life’s priorities and obligations once made them strangers to me, but they become more familiar by the day. I’m not really sure what to expect in a few weeks from now when it’s safe to open my door. One thing is certain though, my family will emerge stronger than ever!

Refined Statement:

Tuesday, 17 March 2020:

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! COVID-19 is in its early stages, but it has already made its mark in history. We are witnessing the first pandemic to take place in the digital age, with news and updates available nearly instantly. Mass Media is now providing the necessary fuel for the fires of our imaginations. In the early stages of this pandemic, fear and our imaginations pose a greater threat than the virus itself. As we lay restless in our beds at night, we contemplate the possible outcomes of the Corona Pandemic.

Composition:

The closed entryway of a suburban home is effective for a location. It is a familiar vantage point with an unseen and uncertain outside world. The front door is the final layer of protection, separating us from COVID-19. The media available (Projection & Sound) provide effective means of altering the space to dramatically express our fears of Corona. It can also be used to express safety and protection in our homes.

Round 2

Ideas:

1 Move Lettering onto the walls.
2 Use bold colored lines to outline structural features of the entryway.
3 show the virus trying to ooze in through the cracks in the door.
4 Show a stock pile of resources inside.
5 Project calming images further away from the door.
6 Develop sounds for each element projected.
7 Create a loop for the content to allow it to evolve.
8 Alter the length of composition elements. This will make each success loop slightly different, providing variety and evolution.

Monday, 26 March 2020:

New confirmed cases and the death toll continue to increase. Concern for public order continues to grow as civil disobedience becomes more prevalent. I less worried about surviving the virus and more concerned about living long enough to see the world rebuild.
